ABM Logo Trotter Mine Shafts

The Trotter shafts are old ZINC mine shafts in the middle of Franklin NJ. Franklin is a very rich mineral town in Sussex county, and produced some of the most unique minerals the world has ever seen. I dont beleive there is anywhere else in the world, the combination of so many unique minerals in one location.

The trotter shaft was a deep and very large underground workings which unfortunately has been very thoroughly capped by the municipality. As a matter of fact all shafts in the Franklin area have been capped with 6 inches of steel reinforced concrete. If you look closely, you can see they even went the extra step to weld the shafts shut!

That is either the Trotter #4 shaft or the Ding Dong Shaft.

I believe this is called the Ding Dong Shaft (not kidding) or the Nichols.

Just let me have a little peek inside!!

The hoisting system has now been replaced by this giant rock.
