Goble Mine
The Goble Mine is
located right by route 15 south in Sparta. I had to trek through someones
yard so I
knocked on their door and got their permission to do so, they were very nice and even showed me the way.
The mine consists of
only 1 shaft, about 30 feet deep to water. Old records indicate the mine itself went down
only to 45 feet. Its a neat mine, easily accessible from route 15 if you know
where to stop the car. In the winter months, you can
even see the fencing around the shaft from the roadway.
